Neuromodulation/Neurostimulation Device Development for Mental Health Applications (R21)

Funds the exploratory version of next-generation brain stimulation device work for mental health, with the same floor on how much novelty counts.

The exploratory twin of the institute's brain stimulation device notice, for work at a stage where building it is the only way to find out whether it helps.

Two routes are open, unchanged from the larger version. Develop a novel brain stimulation device. Or significantly enhance, through hardware or software improvements, the effectiveness of a device already approved or cleared by the Food and D

Exploratory development of novel brain stimulation devices for treating mental health disorders that move beyond existing electrical and magnetic stimulation towards increased spatiotemporal precision and multi-focal, closed-loop approaches, or significant hardware and software enhancement of the spatial resolution, depth of delivery or precision of devices already approved or cleared by the Food and Drug Administration. Incremental changes are out of scope. Clinical trials are not allowed.
