Specialised biomedical research centers (P50) providing shared scientific expertise, advanced equipment, infrastructure and well-characterised research models to researchers nationally, with an explicit mandate to develop innovative human-based New Approach Methodologies (NAMs) that reduce, refine and replace whole-animal use. Open competition, including at centres with existing nonhuman primate colonies. Clinical trials are allowed only as human-based NAMs.
