The Joint R&D Call: Cleantech is an annual thematic call from Innoviris, the Brussels-Capital Region's public innovation agency, that funds collaborative R&D projects between Brussels academic institutions and companies. The program encourages and financially supports these collaborations, allowing companies to take on board the latest innovations while enabling researchers to find practical applications for their discoveries.

Eligibility requires that the project involve at least one Brussels-based research organisation and one company whose relevant R&D activities are based in the Brussels-Capital Region. The balance of efforts between academia and industry must respect a 1/3–2/3 balance. Companies must demonstrate their ability to finance their own share and have fulfilled prior regional support obligations.

Funding rates by company size: 40% for large enterprises, 50% for medium enterprises, 60% for micro and small enterprises. Research organisations receive 100% of their project costs. Project duration must be between 1.5 and 3 years.

The 2025/2026 cycle procedure: project outlines submitted before 27 October 2025; selected projects invited to submit full proposals before 6 February 2026; full proposals evaluated by an expert jury with a live jury session.

Note: Innoviris announced on 24 March 2026 that no new projects can be funded in 2026 due to budget constraints. All programs are suspended. Applications submitted before the suspension remain in process and may be funded in 2027.
