Funds Brussels companies integrating generative AI into their products, services, or internal processes through a feasibility study and proof-of-concept project.

GENAI is a grant program from Innoviris, the Brussels-Capital Region's public innovation agency, designed to accelerate the integration of generative AI technologies into the Brussels economy. The program funds projects combining a feasibility study and the development of a generative AI proof of concept, targeting TRL levels 3 through 5. The maximum budget per project is €80,000 excluding VAT, with projects capped at 10 months duration. Subcontracting is permitted up to a maximum of two-thirds of the total budget.

To be eligible, a company must develop all or part of its activities in the Brussels-Capital Region, be able to demonstrate the stimulating effect of the funding on its work programme, show ability to finance its own share of the project, and have fulfilled any prior obligations under previous regional aid.

The procedure involves downloading and reading the program rules, completing the application form, and submitting by the published cut-off dates. Eligible applicants are then invited to present their project in a video-conference evaluation. Sustain.brussels, the European Digital Innovation Hub of the Brussels Region, offers free support for applicants on their GENAI journey.

Note: Innoviris announced on 24 March 2026 that no new projects can be funded in 2026 due to budget constraints. All programs are suspended; existing projects continue under signed agreements. Applications submitted before the suspension remain in process and may be funded in 2027 pending available resources. Monitor the Innoviris program calendar for a 2027 relaunch.
