The Ministry of Innovation and Growth (MIG) administers this grant under Procedure BG16RFPR001-1.003 of the Competitiveness and Innovation in Enterprises Programme (PKIP) 2021-2027 — an EU structural fund programme co-financed by the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF). The procedure supports commercial implementation of innovations that have already been developed through R&D, bridging the gap between the research stage and market entry. The initial programme budget was 293,400,000 BGN.

Awards range from 50,000 BGN to 500,000 BGN for micro enterprises, up to 800,000 BGN for medium-sized enterprises. Applications are submitted via the EUMIS 2020 system. The source page notes that the procedure operated on the ISUN system at the time of application.

Eligibility covers for-profit micro, small, and medium enterprises implementing product or process innovations. Companies must operate in one of the ISSS thematic areas. Bulgarian registration is required. Large enterprises are not eligible under this procedure (unlike BG16RFPR001-1.001).

The single application deadline was 31 January 2024. That deadline has passed — the source page explicitly states the procedure has an expired application deadline ("Процедурата е с изтекъл срок за кандидатстване"). Contracts are currently being signed with selected applicants. No future round has been announced.

Applicants should check the MIG website for any future call under PKIP targeting innovation implementation.

Implementation of new or improved products, services, and business processes resulting from prior R&D activity. Covers thematic areas aligned with Bulgaria's Innovation Strategy for Smart Specialization.
