BRICS 7th Coordinated Call — Call 1
Connects Egyptian science teams with BRICS counterparts through STDF coordinated thematic collaboration.
The BRICS 7th Coordinated Call 1 is a multilateral research grant co-funded by Egypt's Science, Technology and Innovation Funding Authority (STDF) and the national science funding agencies of BRICS partner countries. STDF administers the Egyptian side of the call and is Egypt's primary national body for science and technology investment. The 7th Coordinated Call is the latest iteration of the established BRICS coordinated call series, which has run for at least seven cycles. Call 1 was announced on 6 May 2026, with a STDF portal submission deadline of 20 June 2026 at 23:55 Cairo Local Time and a BRICS AMS platform deadline of 16 June 2026 (Moscow time) for partner-country submissions.
Dual submission is mandatory: the Egyptian PI submits to the STDF portal while each partner-country PI submits via the BRICS AMS platform at brics-sti.org. Both submissions must be completed to constitute a valid application. Lead applicants must be Egyptian universities or research institutes; for-profit companies are not eligible as lead institutions. A minimum of one BRICS partner-country team is required to form a valid consortium. The full thematic scope, per-project budget ceilings, and detailed eligibility rules for this call are published on the BRICS AMS platform and must be consulted before preparing a submission — STDF's listing page does not contain these details.
The STDF program contact is Hoda Yassin (hoda.yassien@stdf.eg). The 7th Coordinated Call is a separate instrument from the BRICS Pilot STI Flagship (also announced on 6 May 2026 with the same deadline); applicants with relevant research should check both calls for scope fit, as the flagship track and the coordinated track may cover different thematic priorities. Award amounts for the 7th Coordinated Call are not disclosed on the STDF listing and must be retrieved from brics-sti.org.
Multilateral research collaboration between Egyptian institutions and BRICS-country partners, spanning AI, energy, climate, biotechnology, and advanced materials.
