BRICS Pilot STI Flagship — Call 1
Connects Egyptian researchers with BRICS partners through STDF-supported coordinated science and technology cooperation.
The BRICS Pilot STI Flagship Call 1 is a multilateral international research grant co-funded by Egypt's Science, Technology and Innovation Funding Authority (STDF) and the funding agencies of BRICS partner countries. STDF is Egypt's primary national body for science and technology funding, operating under the Egyptian government. The Pilot STI Flagship is a new track within the BRICS Science, Technology and Innovation framework, distinct from the long-running BRICS Coordinated Call series. Call 1 was announced on 6 May 2026, with a submission deadline of 20 June 2026 at 23:55 Cairo Local Time. The BRICS AMS (brics-sti.org) deadline for partner-country submissions is earlier: 16 June 2026 (Moscow time).
Dual submission is mandatory: the Egyptian principal investigator must submit to the STDF portal, while partner-country principal investigators must submit simultaneously via the BRICS AMS platform at brics-sti.org. Failure to complete both submissions constitutes an incomplete application. A consortium must include at least one Egyptian team (university or research institute) and at least one team from a BRICS partner country. For-profit companies are not eligible to serve as lead applicants; universities and research organizations are required. The specific thematic scope, per-project award ceilings, and budget rules for this call are published on the BRICS AMS platform, not on the STDF listing page.
The contact for STDF-side questions about this call is Hoda Yassin (hoda.yassien@stdf.eg). Applicants should retrieve the full call documentation from brics-sti.org before preparing submissions, as it contains the technical scope, eligibility thresholds, and budget templates. Applicants must note the BRICS AMS deadline precedes the STDF portal deadline by approximately four days and should plan accordingly to avoid disqualification through a late partner-side submission.
Multilateral BRICS science and technology research projects co-funded by STDF and partner-country BRICS funding bodies, requiring simultaneous submission by the Egyptian PI to STDF and partner-country PIs via the BRICS AMS platform.
