This prize recognises a scientist whose work has been singularly important in moving products for poverty-related diseases through clinical development. It also weighs achievements in building Africa-Europe global-health partnerships, advancing research capacity in sub-Saharan Africa, and promoting international networking among researchers, policymakers, funders and donors.
