INMAA — The Model Factory (L'Usine Modèle)
Invests through INMAA Lean Manufacturing to help African manufacturers adopt lean methods at Morocco's pilot factory.
INMAA (L'Usine Modele) is Africa and the Middle East's first model factory for operational excellence, inaugurated in 2011 by King Mohammed VI and operated as a Public-Private Partnership by Maroc PME to embed Lean Manufacturing principles across Morocco's industrial base. The programme delivers a structured six-month curriculum to eligible industrial SMEs in cohort format, combining theoretical modules with direct in-company implementation supported by INMAA's expert team. Maroc PME covers 80 percent of the total programme cost for qualifying SMEs, with the company contributing the remaining 20 percent. Applications are accepted on a rolling basis via the portal at jisr.marocpme.gov.ma/jira/plugins/servlet/desk/category/umi, and cohorts run on a continuous cycle rather than a fixed annual schedule. To be eligible, a company must operate in an industrial sector or in services directly linked to industry, and must have annual revenue (CA) between 10 MDH and 200 MDH — both a floor and a ceiling apply, meaning companies below 10 MDH or above 200 MDH do not qualify. Both existing and early-stage industrial companies within that revenue band are eligible. The six-month programme is designed so that modules are spaced over time, allowing companies to implement Lean principles in their own facilities between sessions while INMAA experts monitor on-the-ground impact. The curriculum covers Lean principles including waste elimination, process standardisation, and production flow improvement. Companies with production lines generating quality defects, material waste, or excessive cycle times are the strongest candidates. Management buy-in and access to a dedicated production pilot area are practical prerequisites for maximising the programme's impact during the six-month engagement.
