Research Impulse for Infectious Disease Control (Onderzoeksimpuls Infectieziektebestrijding)
Funds Dutch teams that strengthen ongoing infectious disease programmes with applied research and practical health system integration.
Onderzoeksimpuls Infectieziektebestrijding is a grant strand under ZonMw's Infectieziektebestrijding 2025-2030 multi-year programme, which is funded by the Dutch Ministry of Health, Welfare and Sport and administered by ZonMw, the Netherlands Organisation for Health Research and Development. The call funds research projects that deliver a valuable contribution (waardevolle toevoeging) to existing infectious disease prevention and control programmes operating in the Netherlands. ZonMw's Infectieziektebestrijding 2025-2030 programme runs three concurrent call types; the Onderzoeksimpuls strand specifically targets projects that build on and reinforce programmes already in operation, rather than starting entirely new lines of inquiry.
The call opened on 6 May 2026 at 14:00 and closes on 7 July 2026 at 14:00 Netherlands time. Eligible applicants include Dutch universities, university medical centres, non-profit research organisations, and societal partner organisations. For-profit organisations and individual researchers are not eligible to lead or submit. Specific award amounts per project are not published on the programme index page and must be retrieved from the individual call page on Mijn ZonMw. Applications are submitted in Dutch via the Mijn ZonMw online portal.
ZonMw's Infectieziektebestrijding programme sits within a broader national public health infrastructure and coordinates with the Dutch National Institute for Public Health and the Environment (RIVM) and other established disease control bodies. Applications competing in this strand are assessed on their demonstrated ability to add measurable value to programmes that already exist, meaning proposals must clearly articulate the gap in the current programme that the research will address and the mechanism by which results will be translated into practice.
Research that adds a valuable contribution to existing infectious disease prevention and control programmes operating in the Netherlands.
