TTGV Climate Pioneer — Mid-Stage Repayable Contribution
Invests with TTGV in Turkish climate technology teams by helping proven prototypes move to field validation and launch.
TTGV's Climate Pioneer Mid-Stage Program supports climate-technology initiatives at TRL 5 through 7 that have produced functional initial results and require productization, demonstration field trials, and market validation. TTGV — the Technology Development Foundation of Türkiye, a public-private foundation established in 1991 — shifted its strategic focus to climate technologies in 2023, aligning its programs with the Paris Agreement, the EU Green Deal including carbon border adjustment mechanisms (CBAM), and Türkiye's 2053 net-zero commitment. The mid-stage track adapts methodology from TTGV's former HIT program and operates on a rolling application basis.
The program provides TTGV contributions of up to USD 100,000 per initiative as stated on the English-language program page; however, underlying disbursement is in Turkish lira (TRY) and the native TRY equivalent is not published. Critically, this instrument is a repayable contribution — not a non-repayable grant — meaning recipients must repay the advance. Supported activities include prototype improvement, demonstration field trials lasting 12 to 24 months, and partnership development. There is no published match-funding ratio or co-investment requirement on the English page. Eligible applicants include for-profit companies, nonprofits, universities, and research organizations registered in Türkiye; individual applicants are not listed as eligible for this track. For applicants, the most important planning consideration is the repayable nature of the contribution: financial projections must account for repayment, distinguishing this program from standard grants. The USD amount cited on the English page should be treated as indicative only; actual contract amounts will be denominated in TRY, which introduces currency exposure for teams projecting in other currencies. The mid-stage program sits between TTGV's advisory-only early-stage track (TRL 1–4) and its joint-venture demo program (TRL 7+), making it the primary pathway for climate-tech teams that have demonstrated feasibility and need structured support to reach commercial scale.
