This call funds research into fuel-flexible gas turbine combustion technology for clean, efficient ammonia firing, addressing ammonia's narrow flammability limits, low reactivity and slow burning rate that make flame stabilisation difficult. Proposals should explore approaches such as partially cracking ammonia into a hydrogen-nitrogen-ammonia mixture using waste heat to improve combustion.
