This call funds a demonstration of Reversible Solid Oxide Cell (rSOC) technology operating at megawatt scale, producing hydrogen in electrolysis mode and consuming it to generate electricity in fuel cell mode, to help balance the power grid as more renewable energy comes online. Proposals should validate the system's performance, reliability and economics in real-world grid-connected conditions, including heat recovery.
