National River Walks is a grant programme for UK-based, formally constituted organisations proposing new or upgraded linear access alongside a main river or ordinary watercourse.
The work should create multi-user routes for walking, wheeling, cycling or horse riding where possible. Routes should run through or close to disadvantaged areas, supporting improved and more inclusive access to nature. …
In scope: new or upgraded linear access that is multi-user, accommodating walking, wheeling, cycling or/and horse riding where possible; a route alongside a main river or ordinary watercourse; routes through or close to disadvantaged areas; improved, more inclusive access to nature; community participation; increased opportunities to enjoy and learn about nature; nature recovery projects; and improving or restoring nature and/or water quality. The programme is not looking for further applications from the North West.
