The National Programme Environment (NPE) is a standing national funding instrument operated by the State Environmental Fund of the Czech Republic (SFŽP), financed primarily from SFŽP's own resources and expanded in 2021 to include activities co-funded under the National Recovery Plan (NGEU/RRF). Unlike EU structural fund programmes, the NPE draws on domestic environmental revenues, giving SFŽP discretion to design and launch calls independently of European co-financing rules. The programme was further broadened in 2021 when recovery funds allowed additional priority areas to be activated.

The NPE covers eight priority areas: water protection, air quality, waste management and environmental risks, nature and landscape conservation, urban and municipal environments, environmental prevention, innovative and demonstration projects, and energy savings. Each call is announced separately with its own conditions, eligible cost categories, co-financing rates, and required documentation. Applicants include a wide range of public and private legal persons as well as individuals, depending on the specific call's scope.

Applications are submitted through the national portal at narodniprogramzp.cz. Organisations should monitor the portal and SFŽP communications for newly opened calls, as the programme functions as an ongoing pipeline of individual competitions rather than a single annual round. Given its national funding base, NPE calls are denominated in Czech koruna and apply exclusively within the Czech Republic.
