District Heating Network Investment Subsidy (WIS)
Pays heat companies and cooperatives up to half the cost of a new gas-free district heat network.
The subsidy rate itself is tiered by company size: a large company gets 30% of eligible investment costs, a medium-sized company 40%, and a small enterprise 50%, though a per-connection ceiling also applies — a capped amount per small-user connection for the district distribution network, and a separate, lower capped amount per connection for the primary network. WIS is for heat cooperatives, heat companies, or other businesses investing their own money in a new or expanded energy-efficient district heat network that moves existing Dutch homes and buildings off natural gas. Municipalities can't apply directly, but a municipal or other heat company can.
