Tackling Diarrhoeal Diseases in the Context of Climate and Health
Funds late-stage clinical trials of treatments and diagnostics for six climate-linked diarrhoeal disease pathogens in sub-Saharan Africa.
This is a two-stage Research and Innovation Action, where a full proposal advances only after a positive first-stage outline review, and the second stage is scored under specific EDCTP3 rules that replace the general Horizon Europe scoring section. This topic wants late-stage clinical data on treatments or diagnostics for six named diarrhoeal disease pathogens — rotavirus, shigella, cholera, enterotoxigenic E. coli, cryptosporidium and norovirus — in sub-Saharan Africa; other diarrhoeal pathogens are out of scope. It wants at least two of: new clinical intervention data, implementation research combining interventions with current standard of care, or evidence on which populations are most climate-vulnerable to these diseases, with generating clinical data as a mandatory outcome.
